HBO’s True Blood adds some new new blood for the upcoming third season, adding Alfre Woodward, James Frain, & J. Smith-Cameron. These announcements adds to to what has already been quite a bit of season 3 new additions and news with the previous casting of Shannon Lucio, Marshal Allman, Denis O’Hare, Theo Alexander, and the reported expanded role for Kristin Bauer’s “Pam”.
Former Tony Award nominee J. Smith-Cameron’s “Melinda Mickens” will debut her recurring role on the second episode of the season and is described as “dirt-poor, hung-over and trashy-looking”.
Woodward (St. Elsewhere, L.A. Law, Hill Street Blues) a multiple Emmy award and Golden Globe award winner, will play Lafayette’s (Nelsan Ellis) mother.
James Frain (Sunshine, Showtime’s The Tudors, upcoming Tron 2,) is Franklin Mott, a vampire. His character is described as recurring and like Cameron, will first appear in the second episode.
True Blood returns for its third season next summer.
