I had no idea what this was, but just saw the promo image it in the FOX publicity bundle. It’s marked as just “a working title”, and it used to be going under the name Jack and Dan, which lit a bulb in the Tomio-dome that revealed a mental file I had stashed away. The only reason why I remember anything about it because there was a Burn Notice reference attached to it (and I love Burn Notice).
The reference was made by Kevin Reilly, Fox Entertainment big wig, who said this:
“We have to retrain America”
“We’re going to spend some real dollars against it. There’s no reason to watch Burn Notice on USA and not watch [Nix's] Code 58 on Fox.”
Nix is Matt Nix, the mind behind the aforementioned Burn Notice. When Jack & Dan news making its runs last year it was a 13-episode series starring Colin Hank (as Jack) and Bradley Whitford (Dan), an odd couple pairing of LA detectives, billed as an action/comedy. It will be interesting to see if what some would call a cable-sensibility can unseat Reality’s Summer dominance.
