Somewhere, BSC capo Brian Lindenmuth is whippin’ around cloud 9. That the kind of anticipation your projects garner when you’re behind shows like The Wire, a show that’s prominent in the G.O.AT discussion. David Simon’s & Eric Overmyer are back at HBO with Treme, a show taking place in post-Katrina New Orleans and chronicling the city’s rebuilding through the eyes of musicians. We’ve heard about this show for perhaps a couple of years now, and we finally have a trailer to look at!
The series stars Wendell Pierce, who played Bunk Moreland in The Wire and is a New Orleans native–you’ll also seem in what I think is the excellent – and related – Lee film When the Levees Broke . Also featured is Clarke Peters, another Wire vet (Lester Freamo), who I also dug in Damages. They will be joined by Khandi Alexander, Kim Dickens, Melissa Leo, Rob Brown and Steve Zahn (Zahn on TV!).
The title of the show itself is the name of a neighborhood in New Orleans, and it looks like HBO is loading up lately if you consdier Treme Spielberg and Hank’s The Pacific (no way that’s not going to be tight) and the possibility of A Game of Thrones (keep them fingers crossed).
