If you follow BSC or even my on blog you know that all you have to do insinuate that something is G.I. Joe related and I become utterly – even disturbingly – fascinated. I’m still excited about last month’s announcement regarding the FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) issue #155 1/2, so I’m almost unprepared for this sweet little teaser that IDW dropped on MTV a few hours ago. It’s a guessing game, and without knowing context (is it the IDW comic continuity, or their movie/comic continuity etc?) I kind of want to let it marinate for a minute, and just take it all in.
I don’t follow the comics IDW produces tied to the films, but I love the reboot of the line via their own separate comic continuity. One thing for sure, is for such an odd head design, this cat is one suave player. With the images, MTV reports that IDW revealed: “It’s a character from a series that’s starting this month.” I wonder if it’s at all tied to the Max Brooks (author of The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z) G.I. Joe project that we talked about back in July (and added this wish list to).
The only thing that I do know, is that I love everything about this (film related or not). I live the IDW treatment to G.I. Joe, I love the marketing savvy that so many book publishers could learn from by dropping it at a venue that has the reach of MTV, and I love the idea to get the fandom involved.
