Red band trailer for Dread, the latest of Clive Barker’s library to be adapted to the big screen. It stars the Jackson Rathbone, who is probably best known for his role as Jasper Hale in the Twilight Saga (but will also be in the upcoming Shyamalan The Last Airbender); Shaun Evans, Hanne Steen, Paolma Faith and Laura Donnelly. Dread is set to debut in U.S. theaters on January 29th, 2010 after having debuted last March at the 2009 Montreal Fantasia Festival.
Dread is based on the short story by Barker from ’84, via the second volume of the 6-part Books of Blood set of collections. Needless to say, he is not an unfamiliar name to horror or speculative fiction readers in general (though I think I appreciate his Abarat work the most). Moviegoers are familiar with him as well as he’d had several of his works made into film including the Hellraiser franchise, Candyman, Lord of Illusions and The Midnight Meat Train.
Film Synopsis: three college students set out to study other people’s fears. As the study progresses, one of the students, Quaid, begins to seek salvation from his obsession by exploiting the terrors of his fellow participants.
