Today EW.com is reporting that Pierre Morel, the director of last winter’s Taken has filled Peter Berg’s spot as the director of Paramount’s new remake of Dune. Berg left the project in October.
The movie is pitched as a “faithful” adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classis SF novel; the success of that remains to be seen, as even David Lynch had trouble with the story. But Taken was a solid film, and I see no reason this director wouldn’t be able to make a good-looking, interestingly filmed movie…now let’s see if Quantum of Solace screenwriter Josh Zetumer is up to the task of condensing the sprawling story into a decent 2-3 hour script!
