After their first boys’ night out in a long time, Leonard and Sheldon return home to find their apartment door lock smashed and their TV, laptops, and gaming consoles stolen. Though Sheldon’s most prized possession—his comic book collection—is intact, the theft of the other items is enough to put Sheldon out of sorts.
Reading the description of this episode in the TV listings, it sounded rather typical. Everyone’s favorite sitcom has had at least one robbery episode. It was interesting to see how Leonard and Sheldon would react, but I could have guessed Sheldon would overreact, and he didn’t go beyond my expectations.
Feeling violated, Sheldon was first afraid to spend the night alone. Howard’s state-of-the-art security measures then trapped Sheldon in an electrified fishnet, and he saw no other option but to leave Pasadena for a supposedly safer place to live. After extensive research, he chose Bozeman, Montana. I could have guessed this, too, seeing as Sheldon fled home to Texas in this season’s premiere after learning his friends fed him false data during their three-month expedition to the North Pole.
Sheldon’s farewell to his friends had the most potential for surprise, but fell short. In a video message, hs mentioned Leonard, Penny, Howard, and Raj had been three of his closest friends and one treasured acquaintance. The writers might have left us to wonder which was which, but after Sheldon’s bags were stolen in the train station in Bozeman, he returned home and revealed Howard as the acquaintance.
Summing up, though this episode was pleasant enough, I felt it didn’t show off what sets Big Bang apart from other sitcoms.

Ironically, we don’t even have a passenger train station in Bozeman.
I agree. I found it – as Dr. Sheldon Cooper might say – “rather pedantic”. I don’t feel the writers let any one particular character truly shine. Meanwhile, I know the storyline eventually had to go there, but the Penny-Leonard situation has become dull and boring pretty darned fast. They need to dream up a source of tension between the two characters, or I predict people will start to tune out. Season 3, overall, has fallen short of expectations, I’d say.
I have the dvd copies of Seasons 1 and 2, and fell on the floor laughing. Let’s see what the end of the season holds in store.
Yeah I agree with Karen, I really never liked the Penny-Leonard relationship from the start as I knew it would not have anywhere to go. I also found this episode just so so.
i love shelly! i super love this show!
