Wyclef’s Jean’s tribute to Haiti (and a friend–Jimmy O), “Hold On” – a collaboration between Jean and Mavado – now has a video. Jean was and has been at the forefront of bringing aid and awareness to the recent Haitian earthquake tragedy, including the Hope for Haiti telethon from last week which presented several of the most popular names in the every entertainment medium offering support or performing (we posted the Justin Timberlake & Matt Morris performance of “Hallelujah” from that event).
Wyclef has a new album coming out that reportedly will be self-titled, but it’s not clear whether or not “Hold On” will be included on it. We previously noted the pre-telethon appearance of Wyclef on the Oprah show, where he appeared with Maxwell and Rihanna (see the latter’s performance of “Redemption Song” on that episode). The event – that took place on January 22nd – featured guests that included the likes of Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Sandra Bullock, Shakira, Robert Pattinson, Bono, the aforementioned Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and many, many, more.
I haven’t listened to much of of Wyclef in awhile (the same could be said about being current with music at all) but his first (single) joint, The Carnival , is one of hell an album that you can just jam to on and on, and nothing has to be said about his time with the Fugees–the term ‘illustrious’ comes to mind. I went on several stops of the Smokin Grooves tours in the ’90s, and Wyclef brought it at each and every one of them, being the highlight of the shows.

Good lookin B, Appreciate it.
