Ashley Greene in Skateland clip
Admittedly, not as awesome as Sobe (we can say that now!), but this is a clip that sprang from the recent Sundance Festival of Skateland, a film that has the Twilight Saga star in a supporting role. Skateland has been described as an 80s “coming-of-age” film, which would explain away the rather uneventful clip (though I do dig some of the details in the background and the fashion). Shiloh Fernandez (from Deadgirl) stars in a cast that includes Heath Freeman, Taylor Handley, AJ Buckley, and Haley Ramm. It’s directed by Anthony Burns, and is his directorial debut.
I kind of dig this because I’m just old enough to remember places like (for me) Skateworld being hangouts for kids (you know, with real people in close physical proximity of each other–not in chat rooms). Admittedly, this takes place in Texas which I always view as different world regardless of era (where grown men can dress up as cowboys year round). I also went ahead and added some promo images that were released a bit earlier (that I grabbed from MTV), that I don’t think I’ve noted before.
Film Synopsis – Dramatic events in early ’80s small-town Texas force a 19-year-old skating rink manager to see his life in a new light.
