When you sit talking with T. Jefferson Parker, the feeling you get from him is almost like that of an older brother or a favorite uncle. He’s plain spoken and friendly; the type of guy you wouldn’t mind spending an afternoon with splitting a six-pack while tuning up the engine of your ’79 Mustang under a clear California sky. He’s an every man, but an every man who in the past twenty years whose left an indelible footprint on the world of crime fiction with winning two Edgar awards for best novel (a feat only achieved by the late Dick Francis and James Lee Burke) and producing a massive body of highly readable noir thrillers, including his most recent inclusion to his popular Charlie Hood series, Iron River. And on January 12th of 2010 at the Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale, AZ I was fortunate enough to sit down with Parker and discuss his career, his writing process and future writing projects.
