I just twitted about this (why aren’t you following us?), but over at BSCkids we just posted another guest piece (the first was by author/director/writer Jessica Bendinger, who we also interviewed here at BSC last week!
This one is a (very) short story kids’ style, called “José the Red Mummy”, written by Brendan Connell. Don’t let the BSCkids venue fool you, Connell is one of those writers you want to see more of (he wrote a story for us in Heliotrope as well), and you have to read his Dr. Black stories. Here is the official word on Brendan:
He has had fiction published in numerous places, including McSweeney’s, Adbusters, Leviathan 3 (The Ministry of Whimsy 2002), Strange Tales (Tartarus Press 2003) and Fast Ships, Black Sails (Nightshade Books 2008). His published books are: The Translation of Father Torturo (Prime Books, 2005), and Dr. Black and the Guerrillia (Grafitisk Press, 2005). His forthcoming books are: The Architect (Enigmatic Ink, 2010), Metrophilias (Better Non Sequitur, 2010), and Unpleasant Tales (Eibonvale Press).
Big thanks to Brendan for this one, and we have a new Kid Faves coming up very soon over at BSCkids as well, so be on the lookout for that!
