Released last night: 2 million units shipped in Japan since the December 2009 release and 3 million shipped to the West for the March 9th release. That’s units shipped, not sold, but still. With this 5 million unit shipment of FFXIII, that brings the total shipped unit total for the entire Final Fantasy series to a whopping 96 million worldwide – a staggering number – according to Kotaku. I’m sure if you looked at the number of sold FF games, the two numbers would be very, very close.
With the looming release of the MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, later this year (or early next), the total will easily break the 100 million units shipped worldwide for the series.
In a related note: I own a single copy of FFXIII as of yesterday, but haven’t had a chance to pop it into my PS3! It’s driving me crazy. I haven’t played a FF game since FFVIII (8) on the PSOne, and I didn’t even finish it. I never owned a PS2, so I missed that entire generation of great FF games, including the lauded X, XII, and the online XI. I’m so ready for the next generation of FF game. Tonight, I will be playing it. I doubt if I will fully review this title since there are so many reviews out there already and it will take too many hours of playtime to review it properly. By then, the newness will have worn off. But, I will probably post my thoughts on the game at some point anyway for your reading pleasure, in case you’re a gamer on the fence about this purchase.

Play it as soon as possible for you’ll definitely enjoy it! It’s indeed a must have.
The graphics is just awesome and the fast-paced combat is handled well and keeps things moving nicely.
i have the game for xbox 360 and im on the 3rd disk. the graphics are the best i have ever seen and the battle system is fun. the only thing i dont like is how you cant explore the world. other than that is a must have
