Awesome new rights here! I just got an email from HBO confirming that A Game of Thrones is a go–and an image from the first scene from the pilot! officially described as “Opening scene, Game of Thrones pilot. Shot on location in Belfast, Northern Ireland”, this is the first I’ve seen from the show that might be my Lost replacement! I love this, because this is one of those rare occasions where we are getting one of the best and current series (let’s hope!) adapted.
We’ve talked a lot of A Game of Thrones, here and I’m glad we are getting word that HBO has committed to a pilot and a 9-episode order. The pilot was written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and of course based on the first novel in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series by George R.R. Martin–the (thus far) standard for epic fantasy.
Previously we’ve brought you a ton of casting news as we heard (or read) it, including the additions of Joseph Mawle as Benjen Stark, Ron Donachie as Ser Rodrik Cassel, Donald Sumpter as Maester Luwin, and Ian McNeice as Ilyrio Mopatis, while confirming Aimee Richardson as Mycrella Baratheon. Those were latter, supporting roles, as we got word on the roles of The Hound, Cersei Lannister, the Stark Sisters, Theon Greyjoy, Rob Stark, Jorah Mormont, Drogo and Dany prior to. These announcements themselves were additions to the earlier castings of the Kingslayer, Jaime Lannister; Sean Bean (Ned Stark), Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) Harry Lloyd (Viserys) Jack Gleeson (Joffrey) Mark Addy (Robert), Peter Dinklage, and Jennifer Ehle as Catelyn Stark.

As far as I know Myrcella Baretheon has not been cast….where did you get that info ?..haven’t read that anywhere !
I’m pretty sure it’s been reported elsewhere since(if I remember correctly even her father outed it last year–if I’m remembering the right situation). HBO confirmed the cast to me directly last year (in October).
