The Oscars have just started and it looks like Amanda Seyfried has confirmed to Ryan Seacrest that she will star in Catherine Hardwicke’s The Girl With the Red Riding Hood , a reimagining of the Little Red Riding Hood story. Hardwicke (Lords of Dogtown, Twilight, Thirteen is set to direct the film, which is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way.
I first heard about the movie last year, but as recently as last month I read about this film over at io9, where they said:
redirect teens’ fascination with sex and supernatural beings onto a Little Red Riding Hood picture. With Amanda Seyfried in the lead, the story will put a modern twist on the classic fairy tale, retitling the project The Girl With The Red Riding Hood.
In that report they also noted that Seyfriend was Hardwicke’s favored choice for the title role. It was written by David Leslie Johnson.
Seyfried isn’t exactly an unpopular subject here at BSC, as we’ve recently pointed to a trailer or her film Chloe (which comes out this month) and posted promo pics from Letters to Juliet , which hits theatres this May.
It’s amazing. It’s gothic. It’s dark. Its’ beautiful.
You get to play someone that’s unlike you. It’s a period piece and it’s going to be amazing.

No way it can be as good as Freeway with Reese Witherspoon…but that’s probably a very different kind of “reimagining” than this one, lol
