Ousted Mayor’s Xbox 360 Auction, Proceeds to Benefit Youthworks

Politics and video games rarely intermingle in a humorous way, but in this case, collectors may be interested in a former Baltimore Mayor’s Xbox 360 20GB bundle.

According to an article published in the Baltimore Sun yesterday, former Mayor Sheila Dixon’s Xbox 360 has been put up for auction on eBay, proceeds to benefit the Youthworks program that Ms. Dixon founded and supported that provided summer jobs for city children.

The Xbox was seized from the former mayor’s home in 2008 and played a key role in her trial on charges of embezzlement late last year. A jury found her guilty of stealing about $500 worth of gift cards intended for the needy.

What makes this even funnier is the following excerpt from the article…apparently, more of Ms. Dixon’s embezzled swag is going up for auction soon:

State Prosecutor Robert A. Rohrbaugh confirmed that the Xbox belonged to the former mayor and said he plans to post Dixon’s two fur coats and a camcorder in the next few days.
