South by Southwest debuted our first look at Predators, a film we last talked about when producer Robert Rodriguez named Nimrod Antal (Armored, Vacancy) his director. The clip is introduced by Rodriguez and he starts of by letting audiences know that this film is made to be digestible to viewers who have never seen any of the previous chapters of the Predator franchise. Looks like the gist of the movie is a kinda of Secret War situation on Battleworld, where a bunch of toughs are dumped on planet, one that happens to be inhabited by Predators hunting them. I think this looks better than expected (at least by me).
Starring Adrien Brody and Alice Braga, who are also joined by Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, and Laurence Fishburne; Predators is scheduled for a July 7th release.
Film Synopsis – Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet… as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members human “predators” that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.
