God of War III may still be eight days out from release, but the preliminary reviews are rolling in and the scores are living up to the lofty hype – a 9.4 overall score thus far. I will be reviewing the game the day it comes out, from unboxing the rare Ultimate Edition, the opening levels, all culminating in a final review later that week.
I typically hate bringing up review scores due to the nature of reviews in the industry these days. For example, I don’t like how this title – my favorite action title in gaming thus far – is receiving 100 scores. No game is perfect, and I realize that zealotry and excitement surround a release like this, but still. I don’t think I’d ever give a game a perfect 10 on my scale unless I really couldn’t find anything glaringly wrong. Will God of War III break the spell over my critical mind? You’ll find out the week of March 16, 2010, when I embark on an adventure like no other.
I won’t be watching the video reviews so nothing is spoiled. This game has been tight-lipped for so long that I don’t want it spoiled now, a mere eight days before release. For you other God of War fans, I’d suggest the same. There are TONS of spoilers out there right now.
