Update: this feature has been moved and continues at Gestalt Mash.
Just wanted to do a quick pointer to a little re-read project I’ve meaning to do for some time now. It’s actually a bit more than a re-read, as I will also be doing an accompanying outline and character pages as I go (and more!). I plan on doing a complete re-read of the Malazan related work of Steven Erikson and Ian Cameron Esslemont (I have in the past interviewed both here at BSC-go here and here) over at Gestalt Mash. It’s basically me wanting to be able to interact more with what’s probably my favorite current series of books, and instead of just keeping it all in the mind or in notepads, I decided to start a real lite blog and share my re-read experiences.
I started it (well, I put it up live) at the beginning of the month and thus far I’m through the prologue and the first part of the initial chapter. Basically the format is going to be an outline followed by an opinion piece on what I just read (and as noted above, doing my best to update character pages as I go). This will be supplemented with random posts as they come to me. I’m going to be breaking up the chapters where I can find natural points of separation, as some of these Erikson chapters can be beasts and I want to be able to stay focused (plus it will allow me to update more frequently). I’ll probably drop a note here as I update, because I’d be an ass not to take advantage of my own available platform.
I figure this is pretty niche, but if anybody wants to help or have their own thoughts or features they want to do (even in contrary to my own thoughts or even rehashing the same ground), that would be most welcome. Hell, even critical pieces – if tasteful – could be fun and considered. Thanks for the time!
