TV Guide.com confirms that actress Julie Benz will return for the season 5 premier of Dexter. Benz portrays Rita Bennett, the wife of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall). She was murdered by “The Trinity Killer” (John Lithgow) at the end of season 4. Because her character is dead, she will appear in flashbacks and in visions. This is not a new element to the show. Dexter also sees flashes of his father from time to time.
The Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning series, Dexter, airs on Showtime. The show is set in Miami where the main character is a serial killer whose day job is serving the police department as a forensic blood-spatter analyst. The show is based on the novels of Jeff Lindsay. His last book Dexter by Design was released in 2009 with one forthcoming to be titled Dexter is Delicious.
