Season finale for Legend of the Seeker season 2 comes with fingers crossed for a third. Below we have what maybe (but hope not) our last post about the show, as promo images and the TV teaser for “Tears” have hit the net. The episode show airs sometime this week, and MSN has this synopsis listed: Richard’s last attempt to save the world of the living brings him face-to-face with his greatest enemy; Kahlan may be forced to kill the man she loves. Personally, I can’t wait for the second season DVD. I was going back through the first season a couple of days ago and I ran into a couple of episodes I had not seen yet. The way the DVD is set-up you have to go to another screen to see the second group of episodes on a disc, and I must have just skipped some, as I was just introduced to Zed’s brother!
The Legend of the Seeker stars Bridget Regan, Craig Horner, Tabrett Bethell and Bruce Spence and is based off of the novels of Terry Goodkind.

I started really liking this show. Indeed after seeing the first season it made me seek out (!) the whole series of books by Terry Goodkind b/c I could not stand to wait until season two to find out how it turned out. The first season was reasonably faithful to T. Goodkinds mythology but season two seriously messed with a recipe that worked. I mean c’mon, Darken Rahl is NOT the seekers brother but rather his father. More, once he is dead at the and of the first story line, he freaking stays dead and by the end of the second book a bigger and far badder nemesis is introduced, waaaay worse than Darken Rahl…it took basically the rest of the books (12 I think; I read them en-masse) to defeat him. More, Sister Nicci becomes Richards greatest ally due to something completely missing in the show: she tortures Richard a great deal but his inner nobility and kindness of heart eventually brings her (and other key characters) back from “the dark side” so to speak and she plays a vital role in the rest of the books. I think one of the other issues the series had was it had too many “throw-away” characters…the books made better use of the characters they had, not introducing a new one each chapter and throwing them away at the end so you never had any incentive to invest in the characters…I would suggest anyone who loves the series to seek out and read the books. They are far darker so be warned. Even Richards initial “breaking” by the Mord Sith is way more intense.
That said, the series will be missed as there is already a dearth of good scifi and fantasy shows on right now. Even “syfy” has sold out (pro wrestling? come the F on…remember who got you there, the scifi fans, not the knuckle-draggers)..
