Miley Cyrus Cant Be Tamed

Over at BSCkids we’ve been keeping up with lead up to ‘Can’t be Tamed’, the latest Miley Cyrus song getting a music video. Just yesterday we posted some images from the video that debuted fully yesterday on E! News. ‘Can’t Be tamed’ is also the title of Miley’s next album, which will drop digitally on May 18th, and in stores on June 22nd.

I would never be called or mistaken for a historian when it comes to the mini-Cyrus career (Damon is the one with all of the Hannah posters–only Storm Shadow for me), but this seems like it would be a bit of a career divergence? I know that comments over at BSCkids are definitely ruthless. I sense a Gaga effect on several recent big-name video releases.

Another thing is that Miley isn’t running around having sex on the floor while singing. Just because she’s sexy doesn’t make her a whore nor a slut. Miley is 17 not 12. Hannah is gone, Disney is gone (for Miley). Mind you all, Desperate housewives is owned by Disney, no one is complaining about that. She’s growing up and doing what she wants to do.

How many girls that are 17 are doing worse things than Miley? Just because she wears short shorts (Party in the USA) or a singlet like this video, doesn’t make her a slut. Is she grinding on a pole in pasties and a thong? Is she giving a lap-dance to a guy while he puts money in her underwear?

Basically everyone who is hating on Miley is either jealous because they can’t make cool video’s or sell themselves on their looks. All of America is shallow and Miley is capatilizing on her looks to get ahead. Either you’re rich, really smart, or pretty. That’s the only way to get ahead, we all know this as fact. Stop hatingon Miley because she can get ahead on her looks. If she was 12 doing this then yes, it is bad but she’s 17 almost 18 she can use her looks in her video’s. Shit if you don’t want to see women wearing provactive clothing movie to Saudia Aribia or Iraq or some middle eastern country where women don’t have any freedom at all. You’ll find your happiness.

As much as I’ve disliked Miley, I respect the fact that she’s bold enough to show the world who she is. She’s exploring her sexuality, there’s nothing wrong with that. Yeah yeah yeah, it is an odd image to see her go from a bubbly, quirky girl, to a sexy young woman. But, that’s who shes becoming. I have never liked Miley Cyrus, other than the show Hannah Montana. I think she is a wanna-be and a poser who needs to get over herself. Billy Ray Cyrus was amazing and she used her father as a stepping stool, but she doesn’t have much talent herself. I’m 17 years old and I do not necessarily agree with Miley Cyrus’s music choice but I understand why she’s doing it. If you look back at other artists you would see that just like Britney Spears, Beyonce, Rihanna, etc. artists try to become more mature and make music for a broader audience. Also, I don’t think she is trying to be like Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga did not invent the whole interesting costumes and off the wall theme movement. No, she was not the first. When did society’s definition of girls “growing up” become showing off as much skin as possible and acting (excuse my un-political correctness) like a skank? It is, in fact, possible to make the statement that you are your own independent person without taking off 85% of your clothes and dancing around other near-naked people. For the Lady Gaga comments: Lady Gaga’s style and videos are all pretty much based on pop culture, and not much about her is original. For example: Where the Wild Things Are outfits in “Bad Romance”, Alfred Hitchcock related lyrics in her songs, Quentin Tarantino’s Pussy Wagon in her “Telephone” video (I could go on about all the pop culture references in “Telephone), her own NAME is from a Queen song. Don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely in love with Lady Gaga, but you can’t really say anyone is copying her because of this.

This Miley video just seems weird to me in all bad ways. The song and the video don’t go together. By that I mean how the song sounds versus how the video seems dark. Also, with that face it seems so messed up for Miley to be sexy or risque. She looks so SOOOO young in her face, no matter how old she gets. I must say this is obviously a desperate attempt from Miley to get people to view her as an adult and not a child anymore. She has taken the wrong turn.
