This week only sees one new song cracking the top 10. Which is good, because the weather is getting nice, and I have better things to do than listen to mediocre pop tunes. Speaking of which, Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me” is in my sights for DOA this week, and although this song comes off as the musical equivalent of a can of vanilla frosting, after listening to this song a few times, the melody has a knack of getting jammed in your head and not getting knocked loose.
Like many of the songs that appear on this chart, they’re not ones I’d normally listen to, but I’ll bet I’ll be humming this tune in the shower tomorrow morning. It’s a good summer pop tune and generally unremarkable; however, the production values are solid, and if this tune were to show up in a mix at a party, I probably wouldn’t throw the iPod into the pool. Probably.
If you like your pop on the verge of easy listening or need some filler for your barbeque mix, go for the download. If you’re like me, you’ll probably listen to this song, take a shower and throw some AC-DC on the player. Happy first day of summer, everyone!
Mike Posners pretty hype id say… hes going for the “pop” angle but he will probabaly venture into only producing for people.
