Interview – Amped from Sony’s “The Tester” – E3 Video

On Monday, June 14, 2010, the first evening event I was invited to was the VGChartz party at the Broadway Bar next door to the Orpheum Theater in the historic district of downtown L.A. I went alone, as I did to all of E3 2010, but one of the benefits of hanging out alone is that you get to roam around, meet new people, and just enjoy the time. Nothing prepared me for what happened when I climbed the Broadway Bar’s carpeted staircase to the second floor to check out the balcony view of Broadway Avenue.
As I panned around like a probe droid, I instantly recognized a guy standing out on the balcony – Cyrus from Sony’s reality show called The Tester, a free-to-download, eight-episode, commercial-free reality show on the PlayStation Network. Of the eleven contestants, Cyrus ended up the victor. Another contestant, Doc, was standing with Cyrus. I introduced myself, we started talking, and I learned quite a bit about the experience both guys had on the show. But then Cyrus mentioned that Amped, one of the female contestants who made it to the final three, was going to show up later that night.
What?
Jackpot! Nothing against Cyrus or Doc, but Amped is much cuter. I started to feel a bit star-struck even though I’m supposed to be a cool, calm, and collected member of the media. Amped did show up a bit later, so I made sure to snag a photo with her and Cyrus. Doc wasn’t around or else I would’ve included him…sorry bro!
The story doesn’t end here. I ran into Amped a couple of times during E3, and on Wednesday, she agreed to give BSCreview.com an exclusive impromptu video interview with me. Stoked. In case you wanted to know, that’s how I felt: stoked. Hyped. Geeked. I would’ve loved to have interviewed all of The Tester cast members, but schedule conflicts made it impossible.
Amped is a sweet girl and an elite gamer, and we here at BSC wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavours. Same goes for Cyrus, now a game tester at Sony, Doc, Star, and all the others who were at E3 that I didn’t get to meet in person.
