On the heels of the announcement that Freshmen‘s Sarah Chalke would be on board for the new CBS comedy Mad Love, comes another casting move to the fab four of the upcoming mid-season run. According to Deadline Hollywood, Judy Greer will star alongside Chalke, Jason Biggs, and Tyler Labine, as four friends living and loving in New York.
Young, single and New York City has long been a formula for sitcom success, with Friends and Seinfeld the two most successful examples, and the recent How I Met Your Mother enjoying a respectable level of notoriety. It seems that producers Matt and Jamie Tarses are hoping to recreate the formula, but does the world need another show that deals with such played out territory? I guess it all depends on just how well played out it is. Nevertheless, Mad Love will get a 13-episode commitment from CBS, which is quite respectable this day and age of lightning fast cancellations. Seems like the brass wants to give it every chance to make it. Here’s hoping it’s a show worth hanging on to.
