Raimi talks World of Warcraft Movie and The Hobbit

Sam Raimi is a geek. It’s doubtful he would even dispute that. It’s what makes his films so fresh and entertaining, and it’s also what is driving him toward his next project. Collider recently had a chance to talk with the director at the 36th Annual Saturn Awards and in that conversation, Raimi shed light on his passion project, World of Warcraft. According to Raimi WOW is at the top of his list. He wants to direct the movie, and is currently working with Legendary Pictures to make that happen, though the 40-page treatment would indicate there is still a long way to go. What is known is that the film will take place within the world of the game and not tie in to our own. And he has a Level 72 character. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds pretty geeky.

Other tidbits include Raimi’s admission that he is not yet on board for The Wizard of Oz, but he has read the script. And as for The Hobbit, well, right now that’s nothing but Internet rumor.
