I’m just pulling these two clip because we are at the time in a film’s release where they re-release every clip, tv spot, and teaser that have previously been viewed, and it’s really not worth sifting through a hundred 23 second bits and try to remember if you’ve seen them already (burn out my blog tags!) I pulled ‘Fire Nation is Here’ because it’s a bit of an extended clip, and chose another, this one shorter because it shows a duel between Katara (Nicola Peltz) vs Zuko (Dev Patel). Just a few days ago we pointed you to a large gallery of stills from the M. Night Shyamalan big screen treatment of the popular animated TV series. This month also brought us a full-length Japanese trailer and the ‘Fire and Ice’ clip. The Last Airbender hits theaters next month and also stars Noah Ringer and Jackson Rathbone (Eclipse puzzle boy!)
Completely unrelated, but the more and more scenes I see from Airbender and from the latter Harry Potter films, I feel like we are getting closer and closer to being able to make a watchable Malazan movies (in terms of warren effect). I know people are beefing with some aspects of this film (and more power to them), but I got this odd feeling that this is going to be awesome for people who couldn’t give a shit about the source material or carry baggage with them into film. As somebody who has never seen the cartoon (and probably never will), what I’ve seen interests the general speculative fiction fan in me.
