HBO’s True Blood: Season 3 is the most anticipated season yet. It begins June 13, but fans don’t have to wait until then to start getting into this season’s sultry hi-jinks. In the latest promo Anna Paquin, aka protagonist Sookie Stackhouse, interviews her new co-star Joe Manganiello, who will be portraying the werewolf Alcide. During their conversation Manganiello admits the part brought to mind running around sans clothing, which so far is an experience on the set that working for True Blood has definitely delivered. Manganiello further jokes about having so far run after and grabbed just about all the actresses with which he co-stars.
Manganiello is no stranger to television. The Italian-American actor had multiple episode arcs on E.R., How I Met Your Mother, and One Tree Hill. In an E! online exclusive, Manganiello explained “the character was described pretty close to me physically, and so I started bugging my agents and managers for about a year to get me in, and sure enough, I auditioned and I got it. It’s pretty wild.” A self-described fan of the series, he described winning the role of Alcide as a dream come true, likening his first table read with the cast to growing up idolizing Michael Jordan and then finally getting to play against him in the NBA.
BSC has been keeping a pair of fingers on the pulse of the True Blood ramp up for its season 3 launch. We’ve covered some exciting promos, like this latest one, a featurette hosted by writer/ directer Alan Ball, and an extended trailer for the season.
