Variety reports that Amanda Seyfried, who has been staying busy with lovey dovey flicks such as Dear John and Letters to Juliet is about to give us guys a little more of a reason to watch her films. She is now signed on to the unfortunately titled sci-fi action-thriller I’m.mortal–imagine saying that at the ticket window: is it “immortal” or “I’m-dot-mortal”?
Horrible name aside, the film has some pretty good pedigree behind it. Writer-director Andrew Niccol also penned the scripts for Lord of War, Gattaca, and The Truman Show; and the concept behind this one is no less inventive. It takes place in a world of the future where all mankind gets 25 good years. The rest they have to pay for. If you’re rich, you can live forever. If you’re poor, you’re S.O.L.
Seyfried’s character falls in love with a rebel falsely accused of killing a rich man and stealing his time. What follows seems a little Bonnie and Clyde-ish, as the two discover that love is more important than anything else. The male lead has not yet been cast, so no release dates are available at this time. As for Seyfried, you can catch her in the upcoming Red Riding Hood, which opens on March 11, 2011.
