Sink your teeth into this. Actor Edi Gathegi was catapulted further into stardom after taking a bite out of the role of Laurent, the nomadic vampire pal of Twilight‘s devilish duo Victoria and James. He now joins another franchise sure to cement his popularity. Its the X-Men film franchise and Gathegi is an attractive reason to make mine Marvel. Deadline.com broke the news that Gathegi is cast to play Darwin, who was reportedly the first ever bi-racial character to make it into the X-Men comics. The film is Matthew Vaughn’s prequel film X-Men: First Class. He joins Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nic Hoult as Beast, and James McAvoy as Professor X.
Is it a coincidence that is Twilight co-star Rachelle Lefevre made news yesterday as she was cast for a new medical drama, or that Taylor Lautner is also wanted for First Class? Love it or hate it, that’s just the power of the Twilight Saga at work, folks.
Gathegi was remarkably scary clashing with Kevin Bacon in big screen violence riot Death Sentence. He has also made appearances on House (where he was surprisingly tame) and Lincoln Heights. He also “just wrapped production on the Paul Johansson-directed adaptation of the Ayn Rand novel Atlas Shrugged.” And speaking of Kevin Bacon, that actor is playing a yet unnamed villain in X-Men: First Class. Characters Magneto and Banshee will also make it into the movie.
