Fans of the classic Disney character Tinkerbell may be in for quite a surprise with the announcement that America’s sweetheart Elizabeth Banks is set to star in the upcoming live action romcom Tink, which according to Variety, plays with the “mischievous nature” of the character. But Banks isn’t just the starpower this time around. She’s also taking an active role in the production.
Brownstone Productions, Banks’ shingle, is developing with the aid of Banks herself and Brownstone co-runner Max Handelman. Other producers taking an active role in making Tink a reality are Matt Smith of Offspring Entertainment and Wonderland Entertainment players Mary Viola and McG (who many may remember directed Terminator: Salvation and Charlie’s Angels). Take from that what you will, but as for us, any chance to see Ms. Banks being her cute self is a welcome opportunity, though you will probably have to wait until 2011 to see her in this and the upcoming My Idiot Brother alongside co-stars Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer, and Paul Rudd.
