By Crom! Conan lives again! Director Marcus Nispel is bringing Robert E. Howard’s beloved barbarian back to the big screen and we’ve got a picture of his headlining actor, Jason Momoa in glorious action. Rose McGowan, Rachel Nichols, and Ron Perlman are also cast in this exciting sword and fantasy revamp. Read up on Perlman’s role as Corin, Conan’s father. Arnold Schwarzenegger portrayed Conan in 1982′s Conan the Barbarian, and again in 1984′s Conan the Destroyer. Will 2011′s Conan be as good? My outlook is favorable thanks for Nispel’s body of work. In 2003 he brought The Texas Chainsaw Massacre back to theaters, proving he knows a thing or two about rehashing a classic. In 2007, he directed Pathfinder, the story of Viking man raised by Native American’s in the New World. Karl Urban was a great barbarian, but the film did fail to take a really big bite from the box office. In 2009, his new Friday the 13th hit the silver screen. It all makes sense. In Howard’s tales, Conan faces some pretty gruesome monsters. That’s territory Nispel should understand.
