August 25 brings out yet another comic book adaptation, and perhaps the last big movie of the summer: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. This movie gives one good reason for mixed emotions. On the one hand, it is from the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, two masterpieces of comic mayhem and violence. On the other, it makes Cera leading man yet again, and, frankly, his act is wearing thin in the days since Superbad. He always seems to play the same exact character, and this doesn’t appear to be the exception. In the film, and the international poster brought to you by Empire Online, Scott Pilgrim does battle with “it girl” Ramona’s seven evil exes, who all happen to possess superpowers. It remains to be seen whether the film itself will rise to the challenge, but for now, we’re holding out hope. If you’re on the fence, check out the world trailer brought to you by BSC and tell us what you think!
