Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole opens on September 24, and brings with it an impressive array of vocal talent. With the contributions of True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten, Hugo Weaving, Geoffrey Rush, Helen Mirren, Sam Neill, and Abbie Cornish, director Zack Snyder’s impressive 3D animated adventure is gearing up to be one of the sleeper hits of 2010.
Featuring stunning animation that belongs in an IMAX theater–and you better believe that’s where we’ll be watching it–the film seems to be an intense adventure that delivers a family friendly story without resorting to the lightweight tactics of so many of its ilk. There is a real sense of danger here, but a strong message at its heart. If you haven’t got this one on your calendar yet, just check out the clip and featurette previously brought to you by BSC, and that should be all it takes.
Film Synopsis - The film follows Soren, a young owl enthralled by his father’s epic stories of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole, a mythic band of winged warriors who had fought a great battle to save all of owlkind from the evil Pure Ones. While Soren dreams of someday joining his heroes, his older brother, Kludd, scoffs at the notion, and yearns to hunt, fly and steal his father’s favor from his younger sibling. But Kludd’s jealousy has terrible consequences-causing both owlets to fall from their treetop home and right into the talons of the Pure Ones. Now it is up to Soren to make a daring escape with the help of other brave young owls. Together they soar across the sea and through the mist to find the Great Tree, home of the legendary Guardians of Ga’Hoole-Soren’s only hope of defeating the Pure Ones and saving the owl kingdoms.
