Back to my re-read of Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson! I know, I know, it’s been awhile, but you have to give me a break, as I actually have an excuse running the BSC Deathstar AND recently launching Gestalt Mash. Rest assured, as soon as I posted this latest entry, I started on the next one! The Malazan Ascendancy is back, and in this part of Chapter 1 we meet Topper! As usual I also posted a brief outline to go with my actual thoughts on the chapter. Please note: spoilers for the series dwell at this site!
The future Master of the Deck is somebody who has been on the ground when and where Gods play their games, and is ow in the process of his Imperial education, the next step of which is here when he meets Topper. Before this, however, he calls back to his boyhood chat with the unnamed Whiskeyjack that occurred during the prologue. With all the talk of convergences in the series, I sometimes wonder if this was mini mortal version example of one, when considering the roles the players on that balcony (and the immediate area) would play.
Sorry for the delay and hope you enjoy!
