I just finished the book, and I couldn’t agree more. I loved Tony Pi’s story; when it was done, I went online to see if he had set any novels similarly, and was disappointed to see he hadn’t. None of the other stories was enjoyable. “Goin’ Down to Anglotown” felt more like a bitter political tract than a fantasy story — not that William Wu’s politics are wrong, just that the story was both unrelenting and painfully obvious in its harsh satire of white racism, and I had to force myself to finish it.

Thanks for the review. I don’t recall seeing a review — any review, EVER — where the author expressed exactly my own feelings on a book.
