The Pillars of the Earth on Starz is as thought provoking as they come. Set in the 12th century, it examines themes of religion, politics, and architecture in not so merry olde England. We’ve got a pair of teasers to provide extra illumination into this literary adaptation project. Fans will want to examine the special featurette, and earlier Redemption chapter teaser as well.
Faces you will see include Rufus Sewell (pictured above), Natalia Woerner, Eddie Redmayne, Ian McShane, Donald Southerland, and Hayley Atwell. According to the NY Daily News, “Summarizing the plot of Pillars would be like summarizing the plot of the Old Testament, [but] the producers here have kept a firm balance between maintaining the scope and complexity of Follett’s tale and rendering it comprehensible to TV viewers.” But in that plot, “Royalty and clergy ritualistically acknowledge each other’s official power, while they quietly act in the full knowledge that ‘official’ can be a deceptive notion.” Will you tune in to the Pillars of the Earth?
