Following news in March that Amanda Seyfried had signed on for Red Riding Hood, Variety has great news for fans of the werewolf-driven fairy tale. The veteran actress Virginia Madsen has signed on to the cast of the film, which is a horrific reimagining of the children’s classic set for release on March 11, 2011. It won’t be a small part either. Madsen plays Seyfried’s mother and stars alongside familiar faces such as Julie Christie, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas and Shiloh Fernandez. Perhaps the best news, however, is that Orphan writer David Johnson will be penning the script. Johnson proved his worth with dark thrillers last year when Orphan delivered one of the best twists in movie history to close out what to that point was a solidly paced thriller. Here’s hoping that lightning strikes twice!
