It’s August, and for my gaming schedule, that means playing something very familiar. My first taste of Earthworm Jim came via the good old Sega console of yesteryear. For just $9.99 I was able to download the new and improved High Def version of the classic game directly to my PlayStation 3. Is it worth the cash? I say, yes!
The makers of Jim were creative and utilized fully functional funny bones. It was all coming back to me as I played the levels I remembered. Highlights are that incredible bungee cord snot fight with Major Mucus and the underwater level where the slightest bump against rocky cavern walls will crack your glass submarine. That’s the board where riding a biting hamster has Jim shouting “Whoa Nelly!” The levels are just as you remember, only now in HD.
But you didn’t think they’d go all these years without some sort of update, did you? As a bonus for buying, you’ll be granted access to three brand spankin’ new exclusive levels. I’ve only unlocked one so far, but it included an original, and somewhat tough to kill, end boss. Gameloft also offers local and online 2-4 player co-op gameplay in 15 multiplayer levels! That’s news worthy of launching a cow!
My only complaint is the score screen at the end of each level does not reveal how many secrets the player has uncovered. There are many hidden gems throughout game play. How will I ever know how many are left for me to find? I also don’t recall the Andy Asteroids levels being quite so challenging.
Another positive feature, however, is that you can continue the game from levels you have already beaten at any time. There’s no need to relive the adventure from the very beginning every time you power on. If you ask me, the creators had better go back to the drawing board, because I’d love to play an Earthworm Jim sequel on PS3.

This looks awesome! Thanks for the review, Sasha.
