Jennifer Aniston joining Courteney Cox on Cougar Town

She recently shared the big screen with Jason Bateman in The Switch (read a BSC review) and now ABC confirms to EW that it will be a mini-FRIENDS reunion on the set of Courteney Cox’s Cougar Town. Jennifer Aniston will put in an appearance on the show’s second-season premiere scheduled to air on September 22nd.

Executive producer Bill Lawrence revealed, “[Aniston is] going to play Courteney’s shrink named Bonnie.” That should be interesting! He further described Bonnie as, “Kind of a get-too-involved-in-her-life-type of therapist. Those guys are so close in real life they kind of do that for each other anyway. Bonnie has the life Jules [Cox] wishes she has.”

Could this begin a recurring role for Aniston? Lawrence says it is a possibility. “We’re very intentionally implying that it’s a therapist [Cox] has been using for a while, and we’re certainly not going to make it like they’ll never see each other again,” he says. “So I’m crossing my fingers that if she has a good time it’ll happen again.”

ABC’s Cougar Town is a funny look at a divorcee’ and her live-in teenaged son as they endure her return to the dating scene, which happens to be populated by many younger men. Lisa Kudrow has also guest starred on the show in the past.
