Hi this is Rachael the Philistine with BSC Review. I review the new shows, movies, books, and recap the episodes you missed. In this segment of the Philistine I review new ABC Family sitcom Melissa and Joey. A comedy that has the 90s writing all over it. I recap the new episode of Warehouse 13, where everyone tries to get a life outside the Warehouse with middling success. Take a look at the new William Shatner series Bleep My Dad Says. Next time on The Philistine I review new movie Piranhas 3D, recap Eureka, and look at new CBS series Blue Bloods.

So I’m watching this show on ABC “Family” with my kids, 11 and 13. They’ve heard bad language, ok, but in about 20 minutes they get “screw it,” “piss,” “ass,” some form of the word “vagina,” and an “unnamed word” that is not said but “rhymes with Lunt.” Come on, people, it’s 9:00 on a Thursday morning during the summer. I’m extremely liberal in my views but this is ridiculous.
My comment above refers to Melissa & Joey.
It’s a cute show but I was taken aback by the rather crude joke references, especially since the show is on ABC Family. It felt more like something one might see on Fox.
Hart and Lawrence are two talented and appealing actors – it just seems like this show is trying too hard, and resorting to crude humor in order to gain an audience. I’m sure its nothing kids don’t hear every day at school, but still it seems a bit unnecessary.
I personally love the show! Yes, Mellisa an Joey has more adult humor, and probably isn’t for kids, but what show on ABC Family is? I mean just look at GREEK, or Secret Life of a Teenager, or even That 70′s Show. All of these have subject matter too mature for young viewers. Try watching the show first before you show it to your kids, and not blame the show or network. After all, you’re their parents not them!
No Lauren… Those shows are all okay for kids to see.. Now-a-days… things like that happen in those shows are actually happening to them.. and even if you didnt want your kids to see it.. i bet they would keep watching it.. maybe your just a little up-tight.
