Today we’re proud to deliver beautiful news for Marvel movie fans. How about this photo, eh? In it is actress Hayley Atwell all dolled up in period attire and returning gun fire like a true heroine should. She’s on the set of Captain America: The First Avenger, one of the most anticipated comic book adaptations of all time. The set looks marvelous doesn’t it?

But wait, there’s more! We even have the first film clip for this project ever! Thank you ComicBookMovie.com! We love ya! The clip shows Atwell running from an Antique shop, “which is believed to be the secret hideout for Operation: Rebirth.” Camera operators then give her a closeup before a car explodes behind her on the set. Boy, I wish I was there!

I didn’t know much about Atwell before she was attached to this film, but she’s having a good career. The British actress has an English mother and a father who is American and is of Native-American descent, reported the London Times. I first saw her in the fantastic thriller Cassandra’s Dream, but this year she starred in The Pillars of the Earth.

Who I do know a lot about is her character Peggy Carter, a freedom fighter with the French Resistance during World War II and the first love interest of the super soldier known as Captain America. Will Peggy help Cap battle HYDRA? Atwell told the Coventry Telegraph she worked six days a week to make her portrayal of of Peggy “a bit more military and make it convincing that I could kick butt.” From our clip it appears the hard work is paying off.
