Fighter trailer – Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale

What a difference an “-ing” ending makes. For those of you who were utterly disappointed, like I was, with the abysmal, laughable, incompetent piece of trash Fighting starring Channing Tatum, that no-talent ass-clown John Cena-wannabe, don’t be quick to judge this effort starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. For starters, both of these guys can act when they want to, and what they’re showing us in this official trailer for the December 10 release of The Fighter is pretty impressive.

Wahlberg plays “Irish” Mickey Ward, real-life boxing star who rose to prominence both because and in spite of his brother Dickie Eklund, played here by Bale. Oscar buzz is already surrounding this film, and looking at the trailer, I can see why. I, like many others, find it hard to believe that there is apparently no Arturo Gatti in this movie, but when you learn more about the Ward story, it’s easy to see how Hollywood could pull it off. One thing is certain: this is definitely a more uplifting tale than a biopic of Gatti’s life would be. That, I don’t want to see, yet I kind of do.
