Gavin Hood on Orson Scott Card Ender’s Game?

The LA Times reports that Orson Scott Card’s famed 1985 sci-fi classic Ender’s Game is now under the Hood–Gavin Hood, that is. The filmmaker who brought you Tsotsi and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (ugh to the latter), is ready to move forward as director, having just finished a rewrite of Card’s script. Whether that means he actually gets the honor remains to be seen, as does the possibility that we will ever see this project come to fruition.

Grant it, this is a positive step forward, and production company Odd Lot Entertainment is ready to move forward, but it was just last year that the author himself was telling fans not to expect it any time soon. How easily things can derail in Hollywood. However, given the success of Card’s child hero soldier–we’ve seen him grow up in a series of books and comics–this one seems like a no-brainer to me.
