If I’m an expert in any one area of popular culture, then its the topic of (several) popular Marvel comic books, the X-Men. And that, dear readers, is why these are such very exciting times for yours truly. The big screen prequel project X-Men: First Class isn’t due out till next summer, June 3rd, 2011, to be exact, but that doesn’t mean the interwebs aren’t a-buzz with news stories surrounding the upcoming super hero film.

The team roster for the young X-Men, often known as the Children of the Atom, unique because they are mutants, given super powers by the special X-gene hiding in the soup of their DNA, is shaping up quite wonderfully. We’ve got Twilight‘s Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Jennifer Lawrence and Morgan Lily as Mystique at various ages, and Nic Hoult as Beast, just to mention a few.

Actress January Jones will pay Emma Frost, also known as the White Queen. Traditionally, Frost, is a very exciting character. Frost is known for her luxurious, sexy white outfits, her biting wit, and her thoroughly untrustworthy nature. She’s served on the team and battled against it at various times in her history and with her arsenal of outstanding psychic powers, she’s a prickly and powerful friend or foe.
