True Grit teaser trailer excitement abounds, and BSC is here to give it to you! As a native, resident, and lover of the Fort Smith, Arkansas region, this film has special meaning for me, although I will be the first to admit that it’s a relatively unnecessary remake of the John Wayne original. The only thing the old version had going against it is a heinous performance by one country music star Glen Campbell, which has been remedied here with the substitute of Matt Damon.
As for Jeff Bridges in the iconic role of Rooster Cogburn, he looks cut from the same cloth as the Duke, and that makes me one happy individual. Also can’t be too broken up by the fact that this is from the Cohen Brothers. I’ve read the book and seen the incredibly faithful John Wayne film, so there will be few surprises when this rolls out in theaters this Christmas. Nevertheless, I’ll be there because the film has so much going for it with cast and crew.
