Aaron Johnson in Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer?

Bryan Singer is courting Aaron Johnson, the lead from Kick-Ass and Nowhere Boy for his upcoming adaptation of Jack the Giant Killer. Shooting will begin this Spring, though Deadline reports that New Line is not ready to pull the plug on the casting hunt. They are reportedly seeing a lot of young actors at this time, the website states.
Jack the Giant Killer is being sold as a dark update to the classic fable. By dark, we don’t know if that means “Rated R” or not, but it’s kind of doubtful. Nevertheless, you could see something Harry Potter-esque if reports are true. Singer hasn’t been as active of a director since his Superman Returns disaster of 2006, directing only Valkyrie and the TV movie Football Wives. He’s been spending most of his time producing content for film and television, most notably X-Men: First Class.
