Gas up the Batmobile (or bat-cycle if you prefer), because we’ve got a massive dose of Batman 3 news. Fans world wide were saying, “Riddle me this,” and wondering who would be the big name villain in the upcoming sequel. The truth is, we don’t have an answer yet. But phenom director Chris Nolan told the LA Times in an exclusive interview, it won’t be the Riddler. I, for one, am glad. We have seen him before (in Val Kilmer’s stint) in Batman Forever and I don’t see too many ways to improve upon Jim Carrey’s portrayal of the green bandit.
What else do we know? The title! Batman 3 will be called The Dark Knight Rises. I can’t say I love the title, which follows Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but it isn’t that bad. It does draw memories from The Rise of Cobra. Ack!
“We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,” Nolan said teasingly. The Times also reported the villain in the new film will not be Mr. Freeze. Again, I’m thankful.
Who are your favorite Bat-villains? Could Tom Hardy pull of playing him (assuming it is a he and not a she-villain)? My all time favorite is Clayface. And what do you think of the film’s title? Is it a better title than Nolan’s upcoming production, The Man of Steel?
Actually, I’ve always wanted to see Clayface but Nolan’s directing style strays from CGi and I like that. So I wouldn’t be let down without a Clayface appearence. I wouldn’t wana see the Riddler or Scarface. I don’t think Scarface as a main villain would bring to much plot to the movie. Mr. Freeze could definitely have a huge improvement from Arnold’s version, I would be curious in that. I also think bringing back Ra’s and Talia would be cool, maybe have Ra’s character take on more of the whole “immortal” role.
And I would absolutely love to see Nolan’s version of Ivy.
So I guess my top choices, based on Nolan’s directing style, would be Ivy, Freeze or Ra’s again.
I feel clayface, penguin or the riddler wouldn’t really fall into his style. Bain? Maybe.
I read on Movies.com that Tom Hardy is playing Bain.. has this changed?
I, like most fanboys – believe it may be HUSH, Killer Croc (CG), Clayface (also CG) & Ra’s. The retelling of both a more difficult resolve in Bruce’s past would be the force in which Nolan could tell of how easy it was for the black hand to have his parents killed & just who helped…
Besides, the trail would leave for the “Dark Knight” to “Rise” from his own ashes as the villain who killed Harvey Dent (Even thought we all know he didn’t) and prevail as the “Dark Knight Triumphant!”
Plus it would resolve for the Bat Fan Base the Lazarus Pit & Talia (Bruce’s newest love interest).
That would bring the return of Liam Neesom and perhaps another Nolan follower – Hugh Jackman as HUSH/Thomas Elliot.
Just a thought, possibly a strong one at that…
well in latest batman news ive gotten, ive read that some scenes are planned to be shot in new orleans…..bayou maybe? which would say to me killer croc would play some part, possibly played by tom hardy i could see that and while i dont think croc would be the main villan i think nolan could make him in to an excellent side villan
