Emma Stone is Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Columbia have just announced that Emma Stone is to join the cast of Spider Man, not as Mary Jane Watson as some may have expected, but as Gwen Stacy.
This will come as no surprise to most as the actress has been a hot topic for some time; moreover, she’s been a firm favourite of Columbia as this recent move shows. The actress has enjoyed a spate of recently successful appearances, including Zombieland in which she starred alongside veteran actor Woody Harrelson as the feisty Wichita.
She’ll be starring opposite Andrew Garfield, who plays Peter Parker, and it is thought that her character may have a more prolific role than initially thought in the first movie, due to the apparent absence of Mary Jane. It is said that the dynamics between the pair closed the deal for Columbia as they were deciding which role would be best for Stone, who is represented by WME and Raw Talent.
Spider Man is scheduled for production as of December this year, and aims for release on July 3rd 2012.
