Mark Wahlberg in Seth MacFarlane’s TED?

Family Guy doesn’t get me every time. Sometimes the comparisons can be a little much, and come across as “look at what we can Google” instead of “we’re funny.” The South Park spoof was pretty much right on target. Still, Seth MacFarlane knows how to develop an outlandish concept that makes you want to watch, and he has done so with Ted, his feature directorial debut.

Ted will star Mark Wahlberg as “an average Boston guy,” reports Deadline. His buddy this time, instead of being Will Ferrell from this summer’s The Other Guys, will be a CG-rendered teddy bear that sounds a lot like MacFarlane (or one of his many voices anyway). The R-rated comedy promises to be as outrageous as anything else MacFarlane has done with a laugh-out-loud plotline that has me wanting to see it yesterday.

See, Wahlberg’s character made this wish as a little boy that his teddy bear would come to life. The wish came true, and now that Mr. Average Guy is an adult, the two are still best pals. But that’s all about to change as Wahlberg’s character tries to grow up, fall in love, etc., and Ted still wants to play the role of loveable loser. Wahlberg is hoping to start work on Ted after he finishes with Contraband, the remake of 2008 crime-drama Reykjavic-Rotterdam from Iceland.
