Zack Snyder Directing Superman
If I had one wish to work with anyone in Hollywood today it would be a toss up between do-no-wrong director Clint Eastwood, the quirky Cohen Brothers, and the monster that is Nolan-Goyer; Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer, to be exact. The first is the visionary director behind Memento, The Dark Knight, and Inception and the man producing the next big Superman flick. The second wrote Dark City, Blade, Jumper and The Unborn, and co-wrote Batman Begins. He’s about to pen The Man of Steel.
The dynamic duo had their pick when it came to choosing a director for The Man of Steel. The word was Darren Aronofsky was a forerunner. Why? Well, actress Natalie Portman is highly sought for the role of the new Lois Lane and she recently worked with Aronofsky in Black Swan. So, today’s news that another director was named was big news.

Zack Snyder has directed Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen. He’s somewhat of a visionary director himself and a master at bringing the comic book page to life. His animated feature Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole is in theaters now (see our review) and in an EW exclusive, he confirmed that as soon as he finishes Sucker Punch, he’ll begin work on The Man of Steel.
“I’ve been a big fan of the character for a long time, he’s definitely the king of all superheroes, he’s the one,” Snyder said. “It’s early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern.” Modern is good. Creepy (like Superman Returns) is bad.
Well, this is great news and we’ll continue to keep you posted. Say, is a Wonder Woman movie next?
